Should you decide in the future that you wish to migrate up to the current, full version of the Lading Manager,
your purchase of Lading Manager Lite will be credited to your purchase when you upgrade.
There is a new version of the ALMSys, Inc. ICC Backup program that you will need to use with Lading Manager
Lite version 2.2 and above. Please click here to go to that download page.
NOTE: Beginning with version 2.0, the Advantage Database Engine is used. To repair tables, you
will need to download the Advantage Table Fix Utility that is located on the
Table Fix Utility Programs screen.
Upgrade Instructions
(Note: When you upgrade from version 1.40 or earlier, the software will be placed into an unregistered state.
You will still have
full access to your data, however, you must register the new version after completing the upgrade.)
- Close Lading Manager if it is running.
- Windows Vista Users Only. Windows Vista users need to copy the "real" Lading Manager
Lite files from the "compatibility files" folder to the Lading Manager folder. This is done as follows:
- Click the Start picture.
- Select "Computer" from the menu.
- Double click on the C: drive on the right part of the screen.
- Double click on the "Program Files" folder.
- Double Click on the "Lading Manager" folder.
- You should see "Compatibility Files" in the heading at the top. Single click on that.
- The contents will change to display the "real" Lading Manager Lite files. These files need to be copied back to the
Lading Manager folder or the upgrade will not convert your data properly. Click on the very first file listed. Then, hold the
shift key down and click on the last file listed. This should highlight all files. Choose "Edit" and then "Copy" from the pull-down
menu at the top of the screen.
- Open up another computer session by clicking the Start picture and then selecting "Computer".
- Navigate to the "Lading Manager" folder again by double clicking the C: drive, then double clicking the "Program Files"
folder, and finally double clicking the "Lading Manager" folder.
- Choose "Edit" and then "Paste" from the pull-down menu at the top. Allow all files to be overwritten.
- Close the two "Computer" sessions. The files are now ready to be converted.
Now is a good time to back up your Lading Manager Lite files before they are upgraded....just in case something goes
wrong. There is a free backup program available from ALMSys, inc. that will do this for you. It may be downloaded
here.
Download and run the upgrade from the "Download Upgrade" link above. Make sure you choose the upgrade
that is appropriate for the version you are upgrading FROM.
This upgrade requires that the data files be converted to the new database format. The conversion program
will run immediately after the installation of the new program files. The conversion program will walk you through
the required steps to properly convert the data files. These steps are:
- Verify that all new-style and old-style tables are present. Click the button in #1 to perform this task.
- Copy data for each table to the new format. Click all buttons in #2, one at
a time, and do not click the next button until the current one states "Completed."
- If you are upgrading from a version 2.x Lading Manager Lite, copy the logo files over as well.
- Close the program using the "X" in the upper-righthand corner.
Run Lading Manager Lite. A new icon was placed on your desktop for this version.
If you need to re-register, click Register Now at the top of the screen. If
Register Now does not appear at the top, then stop here; you are done.
Read the information on the Start page and click Next.
If you are taken to the Credit Card page:
- If you are a registered Lading Manager 1.x user, type in false information (hit the "Dummy Fields" button)
on this page. Your update is free.
- Press Next.
If you are taken to the Billing page:
- If you are a registered 1.x user, type in valid registration information on this page.
- All other users must provide valid credit card billing address information.
- Press Next.
Type in valid registration information on the Registration page.
Press Next.
Type in your current e-mail address.
Select how you want to register. Internet registration requires that your firewall be disabled or
changed to allow Lading Manager Lite through. Registration is a two-part process. Transmitting or faxing your
registration information completes Part 1.
Read the Finish screen. It is recommended to print an order receipt.
Click Close
ALMSys, Inc. manually processes all orders. This ensures accuracy and protects everyone from fraud. Your patience
is appreciated during the registration processing period.
When a valid order has been processed, you will receive an e-mail with registration completion instructions.
To check the status of your order, send an e-mail to
support@almsysinc.com and include your order number.
Should your PC's registry become corrupt or damaged, you may need to download and run the
Lading Manager Reset program. This will reset the
PC's registry entries back to when Lading Manager was initially installed. You will need to re-register after running this
reset program.
