Monthly Income & Expense Tracker
How to Move to Another PC
In this FAQ, the term "Software" will refer to the Monthly Income & Expense Tracker,
"Old PC" will refer to the PC which the Software currently resides, and "New PC" will
refer to the PC where it is to be moved.
- On the Old PC, exit the Monthly Income & Expense Tracker program and
back up your data. A free program is available for backing up the Tracker's data.

You may either backup to a floppy disk (if the New PC has a floppy), or to the
hard drive (a flash drive is considered to be a hard drive).
If you backup to the hard drive, the backup program will create a file
named, "MOIE.ZIP." In the event that the New PC does not have a floppy drive, create
an e-mail to yourself, attach this file, and send it.
- On the New PC, download and install a new copy of the Software. This is available
from this website.
The new PC should install 2 items: the Software and the Advantage Database Engine,
which is included in the full install.
- Restore the data from the backup you took earlier.
If you used the ALMSys, Inc. backup program, then you may need to install it on the
New PC by clicking here.
If you e-mailed the MOIE.ZIP file to yourself, then save the attachment to the new PC's hard drive.
Then use the backup program to restore
the data.
- On the New PC, register the Software by selecting "Register Now" from the pull-down menu.
If you have already paid for the version you are using, you may simply provide false information
on the "Credit Card" page (use the "Dummy Fields" button).
However, on subsequent pages, please provide accurate name and address data.
All orders are manually processed to ensure accuracy.
