Monthly Income & Expense Tracker
Version 4.0 Upgrade Instructions
If you are on a version of the Monthly Income & Expense Tracker that is earlier than 3.0,
then you must have Support upgrade your data for you.
For all versions of 1.x and 2.x, please take a backup of your data
and send it to support@almsysinc.com.
Please include your name and email address. Support
will create a new installation for your PC with your data, and then send it to you with installation instructions. This
is done free of charge.
The following update will work only on versions 3.x of the Monthly Income & Expense Tracker.
- Exit the Monthly Income & Expense Tracker program if it is running.
- If you are using a version of Monthly Income & Expense Tracker that is 3.0 AND are using Windows Vista or Windows 7.
Windows Vista/7 users need to copy the "real" Monthly Income & Expense Tracker
files from the "compatibility files" folder to the Monthly Income & Expense Tracker folder. This is done as follows:
- Click the Start picture.
- Select "Computer" from the menu.
- Double click on the C: drive on the right part of the screen.
- Double click on the "Program Files" folder.
- Double Click on the "Monthly Income & Expense Tracker" folder.
- You should see "Compatibility Files" in the heading at the top. Single click on that.
- The contents will change to display the "real" Monthly Income & Expense Tracker files.
These files need to be copied back to the
Monthly Income & Expense Tracker folder or the upgrade will not convert your data properly.
Click on the very first file listed. Then, hold the
shift key down and click on the last file listed. This should highlight all files.
Choose "Edit" and then "Copy" from the pull-down
menu at the top of the screen.
- Open up another computer session by clicking the Start picture and then selecting "Computer".
- Navigate to the "Monthly Income & Expense Tracker" folder again by double clicking the C: drive, then double clicking the "Program Files"
folder, and finally double clicking the "Monthly Income & Expense Tracker" folder.
- Choose "Edit" and then "Paste" from the pull-down menu at the top. Allow all files to be overwritten.
- Close the two "Computer" sessions. The files are now ready to be converted.
To be safe, please exit the Monthly Income & Expense Tracker program and
back up your data.
The update that you need to run is based on the version of the Monthly Income & Expense Tracker program
you are currently running. If you do not know, run the software and click "Help - About." That will give you
the current version number. Based on the version, download and run ONE of the following:
To accept the
default installation directory, press the No Questions Asked Installation
button. (The installation program will remember where you installed prior versions. If
you are nervous about this, press the Advanced Option Installation button and go from there.)
After the programs are updated, a file conversion program will run. Follow the onscreen
instructions.
That will take you to version 4.0. A list of changes may be found within the
Monthly Income & Expense Tracker help and on the
history page.
